AS A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER THAT TRAVELS ALL OVER THE UK AND BEYOND FOR WEDDINGS, IT IS INEVITABLE THAT THIS SADLY CREATES A CARBON FOOTPRINT. IN A CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO OFFSET THIS, A TREE WILL BE PLANTED IN THE NAME OF EACH OF MY WONDERFUL COUPLES THAT CHOOSE ME TO CAPTURE THEIR DAY.

The 'Let's Tie the Knot' Grove
In 2022 I was able to establish my very own grove in scotland, where i could plant trees dedicated to couples that book with me as their photographer. It is a collaborative space to grow trees together and give back to our wonderful planet.
The grove is called the 'Let's tie the knot' grove and you can visit all the trees within the grove here.
STEPS I HAVE TAKEN TO BECOME AN ECO FRIENDLY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
In my ongoing mission to become an eco friendly wedding photographer, I am doing everything I can to be as eco friendly as possible. I am unfortunately unable to cut back on vehicle emissions when travelling to weddings, but I have taken steps in several other areas of my business.
I am super proud to say that I have a full paperless set up! All my quotes, invoices, contracts and questionnaires are all done via a private online portal where my couples can pay, sign and fill in forms digitally. Consultations and meetings can be done via Zoom or phone calls.
I HAVE A HOME BASED OFFICE WHICH LOWERS MY DAILY TRAVEL EMISSIONS AND I USE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES IN ALL MY PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT.
I am currently looking into 'plantable' paper prints and stationery for my boxes and print pouches - I am hoping that very soon all paper within my business will be locally made/sourced from sustainable resources and are fully recyclable.
SUPPORTING INDEPENDENT BUSINESSES & SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS
I HAVE SPENT YEARS TRIALLING LOTS OF DIFFERENT BUSINESSES AND PRODUCTS TO FIND THE PERFECT KEEPSAKE GIFTS FOR MY COUPLES. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING WITH THE WONDERFUL WOODEN BANANA TEAM, WHICH IS A FAMILY RUN AND INDEPENDENT BUSINESS IN POLAND. I WANTED TO FIND A COMPANY THAT PRODUCES HIGH-QUALITY AND SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS AND THAT PUT A LOT OF LOVE INTO THEIR CLIENTS AND WHAT THEY DO, AND WOODEN BANANA DO EXACTLY THAT.
All Wooden banana's timber is sourced with very strict Forest Stewardship regulations. The boxes are shipped in plastic free packaging, each box inside it’s own cardboard box that I re-use for shipping out to my couples.
Inside the boxes, I use dried flowers which are from an online independent business, but I am looking into sourcing these from a small independent business local to me in Devon. I am always striving to put as love and thought into my keepsake boxes so it is really important to me to be able to work with and support local businesses where I can.
All of the prints, keepsake boxes, and USBs are purchased in bulk in an effort to minimise pollution through transit.
WHAT TREES WILL BE PLANTED / WHERE WILL THEY BE PLANTED?
These trees will be planted alongside other native trees and over time, will help to restore the Caledonian Forest and along with it, reintroducing the wildlife there such as the lynx, red squirrel, pine marten, golden eagle and the capercaille.
the grove was established with a fabulous organisation called 'Tree's for life', who are on a mission to rewild the scottish highlands, providing space for wildlife to flourish and communities to thrive.
i love exploring nature, hiking, camping and I am fortunate to have photographed weddings in some fantastically rural and beautiful places all over the UK, so this to me is a lovely way to give back to the environment and provide something wonderful for my couples in the process.
